The Complete Polyphonic Spree by Nick Hornby
I love Nick Hornby. I've read all his novels, as well as Fever Pitch. I was delighted to pick up a copy of The Complete Polysyllabic Spree: The Diary of an Occasionally Exasperated but Ever Hopeful Reader when I was recently in England (I think it was published as two books in the US). This is the collection of columns Hornby wrote for Believer over about a three-year period (apparently he's just done a new column this month so I don't know why they're calling it the "complete" Polysyllabic Spree). Anyway, this was right up my alley. I love reading, I love book recommendations, and I love humor. This certainly delivers all of the above! Even though my reading list is pretty much out of control, I added quite a few more books to it after reading Hornby's comments. On a side note, I was thrilled to see that he read Moondust by Andrew Smith, which I also purchased in England (at Oxfam!) and liked it. I'm a total space freak (especially the Apollo program) and I'm looking forward to reading it.
